East Side Marios - Tomato or Pepper

Is the statue of liberty (at the restaurant East Side Marios) holding a tomato or a red pepper.

I realize that the vegetable in question is shaped and colored like a tomato, but I have seen hot peppers shaped like that and it seems closer in shape to those than a tomato.

Any ideas?

I viewed the pic and that appears to be a tomato. The habenaro is the pepper I believe you have in mind but typically they are orange not red plus they are not quite as round as a tomato.

The staple of Italian cuisine is the tomato, not the pepper.
