Cal Poly San Luis Obispo has a huge festival every year, that ran off the rails once, circa 1995 or so, and turned into a campus-wide-and-beyond riot. The administration responded by canceling the event for the next 4 or 5 years, long enough that every student at the time would be gone before they ran it again.

Dad would have an Easter egg hunt in the back yard every year. They neighbourhood kids would come over and hunt for goodies, and the adults would sit on the patio drinking beer (or coffee, in dad’s case) and chatting.

A good trick for extending the adults drinking time - tell the kids that there are 25 eggs hidden. Only hide 24.
