I know they probably won’t love it, but does ebay’s rules explicitly prohibit this?
I just won an auction consisting of a lot of six different items. I’m only really interested in three of them, and would be happy to sell the other three to the losing bidder(s). I’m not looking to make top dollar, so I don’t want to put them up for auction again. I just want to unload them fast for a reasonable market price (or even a little below), and sit pretty with the items I really want.
Can I just contact the losing bidder(s) off ebay and offer to sell them the other three items?
Yes, eBay prohibits you from offering to sell them something outside of eBay. If you use Ebay to contact them (which you’ll probably have to), the email you send them will even have a little link that they can use to directly report your email to eBay.
E-bay however has no issues with a private auction on E-bay so you should be able to contact them and if they want it offer it for a buy it now on E-bay with them as the only approved bidder.
Rather than trying to make a sale off-site (a transaction for which eBay will obviously offer no seller protection) you can just list the three items you want to get rid of as a regular auction, then contact the losers of the original auction and let them know that the stuff is for sale again.
