I remember a long time ago I read an article by Roger Ebert on the importance of film and why he is so passionate about it. I’ve been looking through his site but cannot find it. Does anyone know where I can find it? I remember him writing about films being “empathy machines”

Based on a Google search I just did on “Ebert empathy machine,” it’s a phrase that he used frequently. One place is here, his remarks on being granted honorary lifetime membership in the Directors’ Guild of America.
