Ecco Shoes Are great!

A few years back I went to Denmark, and had to buy shoes-my pair fell apart. A Danish friend recommended the “Ecco” brand. I bought a pair, and these are great! Its been 4 years-and the soles still are not worn out!
They cost some money, but are they worth it-you bet!

Guess I’m gonna have to dust mine off, eg. Bought them several months ago on sale and they DID feel quite comfortable at the time. But I’m the kind of guy who buys a piece of apparel, puts it in the closet, forgets about it for a year or so and then (reluctantly, for some strange reason) decides the time has come to make the plunge and start wearing it. After the initial shock (first couple of times), my universe slowly returns to normalcy.

I’m weird that way.

Hey egkelly, you’re quite right. The travel-merchandise catalogs and books all recommend Ecco (as well as Mephisto). Your biggest drawback is the price. Most people can’t afford to spend $200 on a pair of walking shoes.

I bought a pair of Eccos in '96 when I was working retail. The soles lasted a whole whopping year - and I didn’t wear them every day. Not worth the $110 I shelled out for them, though they were super comfy.

Now I buy Birks. Bought one pair of oxford-type brown leather shoes in '97, and they still look great. I now have a pair of dressier birks (black closed toe/closed heel fisherman sandals) to wear with skirts. These are the only two pairs of shoes that I wear (except for weddings and funerals). I wear the oxfords for walking. Since I don’t engage in any other exercise (other than swimming), I have no need for tennis shoes.

I’m glad you got more wear out of your Eccos.

You’ve all been talking about Ecco stuff. Is that the way it is spelled?
I’ll tell you why I ask: - I’m wearing a shirt at this very moment which has printed on it ECKO, with a little thingy over the O. What the hell is this? Is it the same thing as what you’re talking about. I’m so confused. Where am I? Mom? Is that you?
