A side note to those organizations who employ IEDs-we all know that they never malfunction, right? It hasn’t happened yet AFFAIK, but there will eventually be an incident in which a public servant is killed or injured during operations with such a device. The outfits that favor burning things are even more likely to be charged with a related death or injury when the likelihood of a police officer or firefighter being involved in a motor vehicle accident while responding is factored into the equation.
As someone who loves animals, and hates the thought of applying the term “terrorism” to everything we think is bad and have decided needs an emotional response against, I support the term and punishment of Eco-Terrorism. In fact, unless my memory is completely faulty, the term was in use long before 9-11.
Fuck the misguided bunny/tree huggers who think blowing up, burning, and destroying personal property while constantly risking the lives of innocent people is a good idea.

Anyone who advocates the use or threat of force to impose their political ideology on others is a fascist. Anyone who actually performs such acts is a terrorist. What those ideologies are is irrelevant. It’s the force, stupid.
You know, this really gets on my tits. These left fascists who think that force is bad when the right wants to use it, but it’s OK when your cause is just, my god, how can you not see the flaw in that argument? If you advocate the use of force to get your ideas across, then you’re implicitly advocating your opposition’s right to use force to get THEIR ideas across. You’re advocating a system in which the biggest stick wins, and reasoned debate and democratic process is thrown out the window. You’re your own worst enemy.

Almost everybody is stupid. As long as your stupidity lies in saying stupid things, rather than doing stupid things to other people, I have comparitively little time to devote to you.
Violence is not acceptable as a form of coercion or communication. The downward spiral of violence begins when people decide it is the only option; it seldom is the only option. People need to be more creative in expressing their disatisfaction. Like electronic civil disobedieance. 
That being said, ELF, EF, Etc. have stated and followed the directive of not doing violence to people, but to their property. So karo syrup in the gas tanks, spiking trees, firebombing Hummer dealerships and ski resorts when people are not present or directly harmed. The morons using IEDs to hurt people should be punished/incarcerated. The question remains however about what to do when corporations guide governments environmental policy not “the people”. How many emminent domain claims have turned over private property to corporations, thusly damaging people and their livelyhood? At this point the scientests tell us that the global impact of human destruction of habitat is irrevocable and leading us to total ecosystem collapse in the next 50 years. So what to do about the rapacious crimnals destroying what is left of our world? The french blew up the rainbow warrior, killing folks, and recieved a tsktsking from the world. But a couple hippies blow up some crapcars and are thrown in jail for a long time?
In regard to ALF and animal testing- the many other methods of testing exist that do not harming living creatures are more expensive, there for not commonplace in the capital-not-creatures culture. 
My pit is much more about liguistic framing of activity and the overuse of “terrorism” to describe anything that is counter to the prevailing cultural frame. I still like Sabotage better to describe the actions described above, though terrorism seems just as applicable.

I think you are correct, I just cringe everytime they are mentioned with enviromentalist. They really aren’t. The are only animal rightist and not very bright ones.

I have a much stricter definition of terrorism than the typical usage. “Terrorism” isn’t terrorism without* terror-*-without actually being terrifying. Is anyone actually cripplingly afraid of ALF? Is anyone intended to be? If not, it may be belligerence, or militancy, but terror it ain’t.
That must make for difficult communication. I don’t understand why someone would define a word different from the typical usage-- especially the legal usage of that term.
