Economic Prosperity in Chicago/Illinois Without Graft?

Is it possible to create economic prosperity and the resulting pretty planters on boulevards and long overdue L-station rehabs in a city or state without electing:

A mayor who gives city minority contracts to White organized crime figures.
A mayor who built his “tough on crime” reputation on now overthrown death row convictions.
A governor who seems to have looked the other way when employees of his department sold commercial drivers licenses to finance his high pressure requests for fund raising - resulting in an accident that killed an entire family.

Do we really have to trade justice away to get economic prosperity?

Are there any other candidates who could do better?

Good question - absolutely to the point.

This is why I sometimes don’t vote - unless I feel I can avoid an incredible evil getting in in a close election.
