Economic Stimulus Payment - single filers up to $600??

I think 2006 was the last “good” year. Now when you earn the 85701st dollar, it is taxed at 28% and quickly moves to 33%. It used to be the 85700 was off the top, now it is off the bottom… makes the foreign income exclusion much less useful.

Not sure about Mexico - Though I may be coming back to the US this year, I am counting days to be sure I still get a good tax deal. 'course the USD doesn’t go very far over here any more. The UAE is looking to drop the dollar peg but there is a lot of political pressure not to.

i wish the US treated expats the way the UK treats its expats… but we have no real say in the grand scheme of things.

Works for me. I see this:

Hmm…I guess it’s not showing up for me because I filed on April 15th. I didn’t catch the “processed by April 15th,” so I guess I should expect mine sometime in June. :frowning:

However, the refund went through already.

Woo hoo! I got my $900 today! That’s two credit cards that are getting cut up!

Just got my $600 and change today, and will be sending it back (see post 24). Call it a very small gesture for fiscal sanity.

Finally got notice today that we should be seeing our stimulus payment on June 27. I’d been wondering if we were overlooked. Better late than never, I guess.

Fuck that noise - I’m keeping it.

As it happens, because of last year’s comfortable income we got $1200 collectively, the maximum rebate for a household. As it happens, I lost my job last year and I’m currently struggling to get by on 1/3 of what I used to make, with a spouse with multiple chronic health problems and now no medical coverage whatsoever. As it is, we’re fortunate in that we have NO debt (we own both our vehicles, don’t use credit cards, etc.) but we’re still struggling. I need that money for food and gas to get to get to my new job and to interviews for better jobs and to pay the rent and buy medication for my spouse and…

No, I’m not sending it back. And if you don’t need yours, consider using that money to help out one of your neighbors who is struggling, or sending it to a food pantry or something. Not that paying down the national debt isn’t important, but so is being able to eat and having a decent place to live.

You can file an extension and get more time, although you’re supposed to send in any tax you owe by April 15, and any you get in late will be subject to penalty.
