I think what we’ve seen in the last few weeks is that most Dems don’t care about this guilt-by-association crap. They care about what the actual candidates believe, their policies, and how they bring them about. So I don’t expect this will damage Hillary much, just as these attacks haven’t damaged Obama much.
And, even in terms of the general electorate, I don’t think Mr. Moto is terribly representative of non-Democrats in his apparent concern for these issues.
For now, I’ll confine myself to this simple, stupid observation (if, that is, you live in the real, as opposed to the Obama-inspired, world): attendance in the church of, significant contributions towards his congregation, and including the leader of, a radical left-wing demogogue in your campaign, isn’t guilt by association. It’s a plain shame.
Which is why this Rendell thing won’t resonate. As an equivalence to Obama’s despicable behavior in this regard, it’s not even close.
I think you’re in the wrong thread, friend. This one is about spurious accusations with regard to Louis Farrakhan. The Rev. Wright controversy is a different ball of wax. Though I’m not surprised you tend to group it into the guilt-by-association discussion.
Guilt by association started with the good Rev. At least for the majority of us that don’t follow every last blow.
And, to repeat: it’s not guilt by association if you’ve supported the man for years.
But I’ll stay away from this thread after this. Once Hillary’s received her deserved punishment, I’ll get to the other two scummy bastards in this race.
The silver lining of the Wright thing, if there is one, is that the more you know about him, the more you think he’s not a crazy person and might actually be a good guy. The more you know, the less you want to use terms like “radical left-wing demagogue” and the more you see that he’s a guy who occasionally gets a little feisty in his sermons.
That is unless you get spoonfed your opinions by callous idiots who happen to be within reach of microphones or keyboards and you never wander outside the electric fence, and in that case there was really no danger of you voting for Obama in the first place.
The more I learn about Wright, the more I really actually like him and I am by no means a loony lefty idealogue. I’ll admit that Obama could have made his life easier by jettisoning this man entirely and smearing shit on him on his way down, but I am increasingly impressed by his decision not to.
The Farrakhan “connection” is an entirely different story and really so diaphanous as to be a reliable sign that you’re listening to an intellectual lightweight.
