Everybody turn around and look at this! The gall of the internationally acclaimed BBC ripping off the North American favorite, Kenny vs Spenny - to the point of one of them even having the same name! The list of challenges lined up for future episodes of EvS are even rehashes from the first season of KvS. For shame, BBC, stealing from one of your poor, struggling commonwealth countries of otherwise little notoriety.
Oh, well. I’m still going to watch it. I like the original, so another show in the same genre can’t be too bad, right?
But it is okay when American Networks rip-off British shows, by the dozens?
…yes.
But at least we adapt British shows for ourselves. Notice that “Ed vs Spencer” is strictly BBC America. They’re giving us their rip-off of something we already have.
Ok, after viewing a bit of it and seeing that it’s literally the same show as KvS with British accents (and I mean “literally” literally. It has the same opening, graphics, cinematography, etc.), I looked more into it and found that Kenny and Spenny franchised their show to other countries. The reason I only found it on the BBC America site is because it’s originally a Sky show, not BBC. So BBC’s not ripping Canada off, it’s just making the baffling choice of giving us something tailor made for them based on something we already had (though I understand that the UK gets our “The Office”).
