Regardless of how many active members there are, it’s still costing an average of $20K a year. If there are 2,000 active members, that’s roughly $10/person, yet they’re only charging us $5/person to stick around. Looks to me like the Reader is still footing half the bill for something that benefits me but not them. (Unless, of course, you’d like to explain to us how exactly the Reader benefits from these boards. Like I said earlier, I won’t be offended if you use really little words so I’ll be sure to understand.)
TCR gets plenty of recognition here and income from banner ads
You mean the income from the Reader itself? What in the name of God does that have to do with the boards? And while there were apparently banner ads on the boards (not the Reader, but the message boards) for about a month, that was four years ago. So again, how do the message boards themselves benefit the Reader?

Do you mean that large blue, red, and yellow thing across the top, that says THE STRAIGHT DOPE, etc.? That’s a logo, dipshit, not an ad.
