I love the straightdope message boards. However, I believe that the management is now turning into a sell out corporation. If I am ever asked to pay to post, even if it’s a dollar a year, you will never see a post by clayton_e again. This is truly a sad day.
What the hell are you talking about???
the general announcement (see top of page)
He’s talking about this [url=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/announcement.php?forumid=5] announcement by Ed Zotti.
You fucking dick.
That was my 200th post! Whoo Hoo!! (And it was directed at the OP, not at detop for posting a dud link, tee hee.)
They are trying to get the boards afloat. You may not agree that this is the best way to go about it, but you don’t have to act like a whiny child.
You posted the same thing in the MPSIMS thread, why repeat it here?
sorry about double posting, thought i was here, instead i was responding to that thread.
Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa.
Thanks Miller
[sub]at least I didn’t flub this coding, for once[/sub]
Try again, clayton_e. Your posts were 12 minutes apart.
(Why has the spirit of Mr. Cynical taken hold of my body?)
i wanted to post here, realized that that thread was in another catagory, was pissed, posted here. happy?
How are they turning into a sell-out corporation? Because they can’t or won’t run the boards at a loss anymore?
Bandwidth ain’t free people, and this place eats up a ton of it, I imagine.
Did you see all the people in MPSIMS? A lot of them were disappointed, too. Did any of them come over here to bitch about it? You already made your point over there. You need your own thread, to proclaim that you will leave, like anyone gives a shit? Many people may end up leaving.
This thread is going to be locked. There is no point.
Well, no actually. Can you provide a link? Please? Pretty please?
I want to discuss this but I’m don’t want to start another thread if there’s one running.
You do realize The Chicago Reader is not a charity corporation, but actually tries to make a profit? This place is costing them money. They’ve done whatever they can to keep it going for free for a long time now. It’s getting beyond that point and something needs to be done.
Damn. One less source of entertainment for this unemployed loser.

Thanks, buddy. I wasn’t going to say it.
I think I’ll just quote myself from this thread. It seems appropriate.
