Educate me about military food

Not long after my Russian ex-wife moved in with me, she brought home a can of “dessert corn,” an obvious mistranslation of “sweet corn.” I don’t remember which country it was from, but it was indeed the kind of corn you’d feed to livestock—really gross and chewy.

She was offended when I told her (nicely, I thought) she shouldn’t buy that brand again and had to explain why.
