I take a two-liter bottle of Pepsi, shake it up, and then open it.
Then I mop.
Why does it do that? What does shaking do that makes the carbon dioxide bust loose? What is it so loosely “bound” to that merely shaking the stuff up sets it free? I understand that it’s just sitting there in solution…but why doesn’t it stage a jail break (instead of just a little fizz) when I initially open a ‘calm’ bottle?
Now I just have to figure out why the CO in the solution needs a microbubble to attach itself to for a moment before letting go of said bubble and then exiting through the top of the bottle.
