Efforts to Save MG Hit a Snag

Apparently, Honda’s thrown a wrench into things.

Honda has repossessed equipment and blueprints vital to building MG Rover’s medium-sized car, making it more difficult for any buyer of the failed Birmingham carmaker to restart production of the Rover 45 or MG ZS models.

Over the past month, Honda has removed equipment from Rover’s Longbridge factory and destroyed design drawings after administrators said Honda owned many design rights.

Much of the structure of the Rover 45 is derived from the older Rover 400, which was derived from the Honda Civic.

That’s too bad. Many of the last models of MGs were quite nice looking.
