What do we know about Egyptian airport security, compared to western nations, with regard to KGL9268? For example, do they have the same bomb sniffing technology?
Do Russian airlines secure the cockpit as they do for most western airlines?
What are the chances that someone got on board with a bomb?
The Russians were quick to deny that is was terrorist attack, but how do they know for sure at this point?
Apparently, the latter problem has happened before, with planes that have banged tail on the runway then undergone repairs (as this aircraft had).
I was in the Sharm airport, and I didn’t notice excessive security measures; but then, that was before Sisi riled up the Moslem Brotherhood by killing hundreds of them and arresting many more. Before, the airport had the regular security you expect- the Xray scanners, metal detectors, etc. The advantage the Egyptians have is that labour is cheap, so it’s easier to have too many people watching each other. Now that the Moslem Brotherhood and Hamas from Gaza, and some local Bedouin troublemakers, are all a threat - I would say there’s a decent amount of security.
I don’t know if they ha bomb-sniff technology, but I would not be surprised if they do.
If I had to guess, I would blame Chechnya - since ISIS-Egypt hasn’t a clue what to claim, and aren’t out to get Russia generally.
