Starting on January 2, 2021, MeTV will broadcast three hours of cartoons every Saturday morning. These will be the original theatrical shorts featuring the likes of Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, and Popeye. These cartoons are the favorites of kids of all ages, and now they’re back.
'Get ready to start your weekend with your favorite characters, from Bugs to Taz. Each hour will present a collection of cartoons featuring Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, Popeye and Friends, and Tom & Jerry.
These theatrical cartoon shorts came from the brilliant minds and pens of animation legends like Chuck Jones, Tex Avery, Max Fleischer, and William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. They remain as beautiful and hilarious as you remember."
I hope they’re not edited – those are the worst.
I hope they expand beyond the theatrical cartoons. I would love to see the Lone Ranger series that was akin to The Wild Wild West, Speed Racer, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, or mayber even Super-President.
Who the hell wants to see “Popeye and Friends”?
As long as they stick to the theatrical shorts from Paramount and Famous Studios, I would. I know that the made for TV cartoons are garbage, but MeTV is promising the classics.
Once I became aware of Segar’s newspaper strip, cartoon Popeye has been dead to me.
Throw in some Moose and Sqvirrel and I’m all in!
This is a great idea! I also wonder if they’ll show “Schoolhouse Rock” and updated versions of “In The News.”
You mean that incredibly cool Neo-Expressionist animated LONE RANGER from 1966?
Toss in COOL McCOOL, and I’m in.
