I’ve tried a SDMB search, and all Google produces is links about a gay book or inane statements about a resturaunts lack of a menu item. Where did the term Eighty-sixed (as in kicked out of a bar or tavern) originate?
I haven’t hear dit used to describe being banned from a bar. But it seems like a natural extension of the word’s use.
Apparently there is no absolutely definitive answer; see Cecil’s previous quote. There is much speculation locally that it had something to do with the military and the UCMJ, but, Article 86 deals with AWOL.
