… “and some, I assume, are good people.”
I’m not sure WHY our Mr. HurricaneDitka actually WANTS to paint himself as one of the “deplorables” I find it odd.

Don’t forget the way liberals always exaggerate labels far beyond their true meaning. When you consider the fact that very few of the people and actions that liberals typically call racist, misogynist, hateful, etc., are in fact any of these things, the true percentage of deplorables amongst the Republicans who voted for Trump is probably in the low single digits.
As does most every other Republican in Congress; they just a way to accomplish that while minimizing electoral blowback in 2018.
What kind of uselessly unsubstantiated goo is that? There were at least five points in there that mean jack shit without cites. “Probably” doesn’t establish much credibility, especially if it’s trying to buttress a bone-headed speculation about the deplorable “true percentage”.
Missed edit window by a couple hours…
mods…apologies in advance for mentioning “bone-headed” in my previous post.:o
But Mitch won’t do a thing until after the Electoral College meets & The Donald is inaugurated. Then, if Trump becomes an embarrassment, impeachment or even the threat of impeachment will produce President Pence. More in line with the Republican Establishment.
You didn’t really expect him to work to give the presidency to Clinton, did you?
Because some Democrats are being drama queens about the election. I predict we’ll survive President Trump more-or-less just fine.
Not many intelligent people on our side do at this point. But I think the idea of a bloc of EV’s going to somebody like Romney or McMullin - keeping Trump from getting 270 and throwing decision to Congress - is a reality based and hopeful plan for our country that reasonable Dems can get on board with.
LOL. No wonder you guys like to tell each other that “reality has a left-wing bias”. That’s not reality. It’s a fucking fantasy. It’s delusional. It makes me wonder if we need to start giving out straight jackets when people register to vote as Democrats. It’s craziness, not a “plan”.
This guy (Larry Lessig, Harvard prof, former pres candidate) has been offering free legal advice to electorals looking to flip. He says he knows of 30 that are planning on switching from Trump, and there only need to be 37. It’s a long shot, sure, but it’s not fantasy land either.
Please do not appear to insult other posters by calling them delusional.

I am willing to bet $100 that there won’t be more than 3 Republican “faithless” electors. Much less 30. Anyone willing to take the bet?
Sorry, I was trying to focus my comments towards the “plan”.
Bullshit. Your cite doesn’t say “He knows of 30 that are planning on switching from Trump”. It says, “between 20 and 30 Republican electors are considering voting against Mr Trump”. I can just imagine how those conversations have gone: “OK, sure Larry, I’ll think about it, but I have to get back to work now.”
Gotta agree, I’ll be stunned if it even comes close.
OF course not. Mitch, like most Real Republicans, does not like Trump very much. But , even if he became convinced that Trump was guilty of conspiring with Putin, he’d wait to “discover” that after the Inauguration. Then–President Pence!
I also scorn the possibility that a more “reasonable” Republican be named by the Electoral College. The Republicans chose The Donald–let their reputation depend on his actions. Besides, most Republican issues would remain as bad–even with a Cabinet less fit to work a carnival side show.
You didn’t say, “knock on wood.” That’s tempting fate, that is.
Now I’ve heard everything: a legal challenge involving two faithless electors- who want to vote for Trump:
Colorado Supreme Court won’t hear appeal from anti-Trump electors
Yes, that’s right, “anti-Trump” electors- who nevertheless want to vote for Trump in order to establish that electors can vote their conscience, regardless of partisan affiliation. Part of a larger strategy by a group known as “Hamilton Electors”, they hope their example will encourage other electors to defect from Trump.
The article you cited does not indicate that the faithless electors in question want to vote for Trump.
