So I got a job where I have to shave every day.
Currently, I use a Mach 3 or Terrific Trio or whatever kind of razor.
It works well, but Thursday or Friday I feel like I’m trying to slit my own throat.
Razor blades are expensive to change every three days.
So I’m looking to get an electric razor, but I need advice on what kind to get.
I have a crazy beard “grain” on my neck, it goes one way on the right and another
on the left side and swirls in the middle. I have tried an electric razor here and there
but they never seem to actually shave it, just grind it down to stubble.
So anyhow, I’m looking for a stout electric razor that shaves the heck out of my
beard without killing my face. Any advice or recommendations?
I’ve always used Norelco shavers. I currently use a Norelco 720-RL with the so-called lift-and-cut heads (dunno if they work any better than standard heads, but the shave is pretty clean), which I’ve had for about 10 years, now. Bear in mind - and this is important - that if you’re used to blade shaving, the first month or so of electric shaving will most likely be uncomfortable. You may experience a slight burning sensation afterwards, coupled with redness and/or itchiness. This is perfectly normal. Give yourself at least a month of using whichever electric shaver you decide to go with before deciding it’s not for you. Using an aftershave designed for users of electrics will help soothe your irritated skin until it adjusts. I’ve always been partial to Skin Bracer, by Mennen. Nice smell, and feels good after a shave.
Why do you change blades every 3 days??? I only shave 4-5 times a week, but I change my Mach 3 blade out every 3 or 4 weeks, sometimes longer. Some of the blades come with an indicator strip that tells you when to change it, but I don’t pay attention to it. I just change it when I get bored of that blade, or something.
Don’t do it. I, of Sicilian beardedness, have a prodcut for you.
Kiehls Green Eagle shaving cream. I’m sure they sell online, and they also have a few stores in major cities. Their shaving cream saved my life. It will seem expensive, but a tube lasts forever.
I make no money from them, I have no stake in them. I just want to spread the happiness.
When I used an electric shaver I was fairly happy with Braun.
However…you might try shaving every other day with a triple blade(I swear by Sensor3 nowadays.) So you end up looking like Fred Flintstone two or three days a week.
With electric it’s YABBADABBA DOO! everyday.
