I will be in the UAE for a few weeks on business, flying from Canada. I need to get an adapter for type A/B to type G as well as a power converter.
I have one question. If I have an A/B to G adapter and power converter plugged into a UAE type G outlet, is it safe and practical to plug a small North American power bar into the adapter/converter in order to support multiple devices or is it necessary to buy a few adapters and converters to plug into separate outlets so that there is one device per adapter/converter/outlet?
My company has me staying at a very high end hotel btw so I assume that there should be no other technical issues.
Thanks
You may not need the power convertor. Most small devices are multi voltage. I am assuming here, phone/tablet/laptop chargers and electric shavers etc, not electric kettles or hair dryers.
Yes, but you need adapters - US (or Canadian) plugs won’t fit into foreign sockets…
The plug strip lets you use just one adapter to charge multiple devices.
I have done this - and it works fine for temporary use. Voltage in Dubai is 220V - so the rating of the power bar comes in question - but for the brief period you are there, it shouldn’t be a problem.
Right, he’s (bob++) saying he only needs the adapter, but not the converter for small devices. I took both last year when I went to Europe and wound up not using the converter after the 1st day or two.
Are there travel size power strips/bars? I’m going to Spain/Potugal in a month and may need to charge more than 1 phone size device at the same time.
