There’s a tool for grabbing a wire nut and tightening it. These are useful to spare the hand and wrist of an electrician, for example one with carpal tunnel problems.
The one I have seen is an ordinary screwdriver, except that in the butt end of the handle is a hole shaped like the wire nut.
Since wire nuts have some variety of shapes, some more splined and some more flatted, it’d probably have to be per brand of wire nut - and maybe per size as well.
I looked in Sears and Home Depot, the web, and the McMaster-Carr industrial supply catalog, but didn’t see it.
The tool is a Wire-Nut connector wrench, made by Ideal®. The one I have is their catalog #30-333 and features a 3/16" wide screwdriver tip. The handle end will tighten standard yellow and red nuts. Cost is around $13-go to your local electrical supply house.
My buddy saw mine last month when we upgraded his service and expressed interest. I’m looking at the one I picked up for him.
