Electronic cigarettes

So the time as come to try quitting smoking again, or at least putting less shit into my lungs.

I have tried to research but other than Wikipedia, which of course contains general information, but noting specific. Most of the other sites seem to be adds for various brands.

At a minimal goal, I would like to buy a new car and not have it stunk up. So I would like to try them for car use. And hopefully, cut down the number of real smokes a day until maybe there are none.

Anybody have much experience with them? I don’t want to waste money on some crappy piece of shit with a shiny website mostly.

Lots of useful information - almost too much, making it hard to find some specifics. But there are links for new/potential users and a forum specifically for new users.

I’ve been smoke free since March using ecigs. The catch is the fiddle factor and the “savings” over organic cigs. It’s tough to quantify savings (if any) with the up-front cost being high. Plus there can be a bit of experimentation in finding a device/system that works for you and a flavor you like.

A few things:

  1. a gajillion and one different devices out there. Devices which are a similar size and shape to a real cig tend not to perform as well as something that looks like a big silver tube. This is because the batteries are really small in the little cig-like devices and they don’t hold as much of the “juice” or liquid.
  2. Once you settle on a device, many have universal cartridge/tank/atomizer connections, making for an untold number of variations in delivery. And everyone has a different opinion on what works the best.
  3. Finding a flavor you like can be a lot of trial and error.
  4. It’s not all that similar to smoking, other than how you inhale something. Tastes different, feels different, etc.

Not that I’m trying to talk you out of it - I love my ecig. It just took my a while to find my own personal “sweet spot” with the right device, tank system, and juice flavor.

The big thing is if you really want to make a go of it, don’t give up if your first try doesn’t work for you. Hit that site, ask questions, and be ready to experiment some.

Generally recommended devices include the ego devices plus something called a Vivi Nova tank. And then all you need to do is find the right juice.

Cool, thanks.

Do you have an example of the “big silver tube” all the ones I see look like normal cigs.

I quit a heavy, decades-long smoking habit (finally!) in April by switching to “vaping.”

I agree with thatguyjeff - initial cost can be a little high but once you figure out what works for you, I’ve found it lots cheaper. And I’m using some pretty high quality devices and juices now. And I just bought my first variable voltage device. Ooh, shiny.

That forum is an excellent resource. Overwhelming, too. Take your time reading older threads and stickies there. eGo/KGO are both excellent kits to start out with.

Seriously, feel free to PM me if you need answers or recommendations. In the off-chance you’re in Michigan there are two excellent brick and mortar establishments I can recommend.

I just got this:

Really good deal on a KGO kit:

I am actually in Michigan, Detroit area to be specific.
And I’m not to worried about the initial cost, when I figure what I spend a month now on smokes(plus a peanut butter cup, or bag of chips as long as I’m in line at speedway).

I just sent you a PM with links to a couple of Michigan stores.
