Bumping the thread because I just had dinner in the same restaurant as Elliot. Low key small neighbourhood place, no entourage, appeared to be on date.
He looked very happy and relaxed but everyone left them alone and didn’t bug him.

I mean…how many people do you expect actually recognized him? He hasn’t exactly had a high-profile lead role since Juno 14 years ago–and that was of course before going through a radical change of appearance.
Maybe you missed The Umbrella Acadamy since it was on Netflix but it was a really good show. Elliot played one of the main characters but it was before he transitioned.
Nope, didn’t miss it. But an ensemble cast with a viewership that has to be a small fraction of the people who saw Juno.
He’s either still filming or just finished filming Season 3 here in Toronto, so i wasn’t that surprised.
Yeah, that’s not how it works. Millions more people watch even poorly watched shows than even blockbuster movies. Nielsen wasn’t doing streaming ratings at the time, but I’d bet many more people have seen Page in Umbrella Academy than Juno, Inception, even her X-men film role as Kitty Pryde.
Btw, UA3 just wrapped - Netflix posted an announcement yesterday.
And Elliot is the top billed actor on Umbrella Academy. Netflix definitely promoted his role in marketing the show.
(Also he was a big part of Inception)
So how did they handle it on the show? Did his character transition, too, or are they still giving him female makeup, costuming, etc.?
They’ve been pretty tight lipped about S3, I haven’t seen any hints not just about how Vanya fits in.
IMHO Elliot is a good enough actor to play CIS female if that is the direction they want to go, but they certainly could have Vanya be non-binary as well.

The umbrella academy is bigger than Juno was, he was also in Inception not that long ago which was way bigger than both.

In the comics The Sparrow Acadamy doesn’t come in until the end of UA3: Hotel Oblivion, so it’ll be interesting to see where the TV show goes since they are starting out with The Sparrow Acadamy, Unless of course more time travel is involved and then anything goes.

Wow, that’s fantastic - I was really worried they’d either drop Page or make him wear drag to maintain the character as female but this seems like a very good solution.
I hope Page can reach a place where he is comfortable viewing his work from before his transition. As a very public transman I can’t help but wonder how big an issue that is for him.
One person I saw online is conjecturing that this won’t be the same character having transitioned, but the same character from the alternate universe.
And… so what? If it works in the narrative it works.
Netflix already confirmed that it’s not the case and Elliott’s character comes out as transgender.
