ELO, Neil Diamond, and Grateful Dead

I was responding to dropzone, not you. I would not presume to school an audience member who toured with the band.

The reason I agreed that it was considered a sellout is that many fans do consider it a sellout. I hung out for many years at the Grateful Dead message board at dead.net and many, but not all considered the song top 40 material and a sellout of what the band usually did. Again, this is for members of the public, not Deadheads. And again, I like the song.

At the risk of being whooshed, I gotta point out that Jerry Garcia had nothing to do with Pac-Man Fever-- the “Garcia” in Buckner & Garcia is Gary Garcia, a completely different guy.

Now, if you want to say Gary Garcia sold out by doing Pac-Man Fever after his storied career of doing a song about Howard Cosell and a version of the WKRP theme… feel free!
