Elton John

Who do you think is talented, then?

What is the significance of being knigthed?

Oh god! Make it stop!

(Oh, and most likely, John Lennon would not have heard of Madonna!)

Just for the record, I’ve been reading the Works of Cecil since somewhere around 1980.

He has a lot to offer. What can be said of you? Well, you’re a bad writer and you have issues. We all know those qualities are a rarity in the human race.

Oh for the love of-Mockingbird, it’s a rant that was written months ago! Let it go.

Did you ever think that it might have been requested for some reason? Perhaps it might have been Diana’s favourite song?

Wait… do you ever think?

Who is Bernie?

Bernie is Bernie Taupin, who wrote the lyrics for Elton’s earlier songs.

Anyone else see Elton’s appearances on ** Will & Grace ** and especially ** The Nanny **. He is a damn good comedic actor.

I’m currently mad at Elton John. My husband and I were all set to see him and Billy Joel night before last when they canceled the concert at the last minute! Well, they actually postponed it until May 8, but darn it, my husband is out of town then. I heard BJ was sick, and that’s why the show was moved, but I’m still mad at the both of them!

So, I’m going to cash in our tickets and use the money to visit Denver. That’ll show them!

For my mom’s 60th birthday, I took her to see Elton in concert. Up until that point, I had a passing familiarity with his hits, but thats about it. I’m mostly into indie and more obscure stuff. Well, we had a great time. It was her first concert ever, and I had to give props to anyone who could fill an arena with such a diverse crowd–boomers, gays, str8s, young and old. Since then, I’ve gone back and discovered most of his back catalogue. I’m impressed. The man does a lot for gay issues, he’s funny, and entertaining. Personally, I think celebrities can spend their money on whatever pleases them. It’s their money after all-I wouldn’t want someone telling me I “have” to donate or give my earnings just “because”. The fact he gives so much to charity is cool.

I did catch him on The Simpsons.

I personally prefer his earlier stuff over the new.

And as for Taupin’s lyrics, lout, take another listen to “Love Lies Bleeding.” Once you have listened to the lyrics, consider the additional knowledge that that song title is also the name for a plant from which a deadly poison can be distilled. I know for a fact that Taupin was aware of that-he mentioned that fact in an interview.

Hack indeed.

Seems to me that he has talent. The problem, in my opinion, is that he applies his talent to writing schlocky songs. YM, as always with matters of taste, MV.

That said, I hope he NEVER dies. I won’t be able to stand the week-long retrospective of his music that they’ll play.
