Emergency Broadcast Network--the techno group

Does anybody know anything about this group? They manipulate news images and set it to techno dance music. I’ve seen a bootleg tape of a few of their videos and I think it’s brilliant stuff. I’ve always wanted to buy a compilation tape (which I assume is out there), but I haven’t talked to anyone who knows more about it than me.

As you can imagine, my search on Google was mighty fruitless.

Love 'em. I’ve got the album Telecommunication Breakdown, it’s one that I can listen to any time, no matter my mood. I don’t have much else except for a remix of U2’s Numb done by them, so I’m not familiar with any videotapes they may have. Though with this CD they included a 3.5" floppy with some .mov files and other interactive stuff. Do a Yahoo search for “EBN Telecommunication Breakdown” and you’ll get lotsa pages about the group, and fewer about the national emergency service

Tried to go to one of their shows when I lived in Portland-- this dj was supposed to open for them I thought, so I got there late and discovered that that the establishment’s priorities were all wrong and that THEY were opening for the dj (!) (Banco de Gaia, but still. . .) and only caught the last 5 minutes of their set, which was soooo cool that I realized the enormity of my misfortune and almost wept.
Um, to answer your, uh, question, Yes, I do think so. In 1944. In liquid form.

Yes! I’ve been trying to find another copy of their Gulf War era video, you know the one, with the mutilated speeches from Bush and Quayle. A friend showed me a crappy n-th generation copy of the tape, and I was so pissed, I had just spent the last several months taping all the same source material with the same goal in mind. And they beat me to it. Well, more power to them, it was a damn fine work of satire.
This is one tape that absolutely MUST be put back in circulation, NOW. I’ve just begun an active search for this tape, and I’ll report if I find a source, please let me know if you find a distributor.
