Eminem and Hypocrisy

Correction, if you did what Eminem did AND WERE FOUND TO BE GUILTY then you would lose all of the above. If Eminem is found guilty the exact same thing would happen to him, no more millions, no more “nubile teeneyboppers to fuck” or any of that. He hasn’t been found guilty and so I am reserving judgement.

Secondly I ** don’t ** think that Eminem deserves special treatment, if he is found guilty then he deserves whatever prison sentence is doled out to him. When I said;

“The trouble is that the people who criticize him most in the media tend to view him as public property because of his fame so they don’t give him a break.”

I meant that they weren’t listening to his side of the story, the legion of overly concerned parents and self appointed moral guardians of the nations youth were just waiting for an excuse to pounce on him and tar his image in the media when they heard that he had been arrested. If you or anybody else had done what Eminem did then it would be a lot easier for you to plead your case. I think this because the chances are that at least a couple of the people on Eminem’s jury will be parents and if they are halfway as concerned as some of the parents who have been writing in to my daily newspaper to slander him then his defence attourney is going to have to work his ass off to get Eminem off.

I don’t want Eminem to get any sort of special treatment just because he’s rich. I just don’t like to judge him before the truth has been officially known in court. I think that this principal is an integral part of the justice system and I think the same about anybody accused of a crime. I’m probably being waaaay to idealistic about this but that’s just me.

Also I think that we are becoming slightly off topic. The OP was not concerned with Eminem’s actions outside the music industry. It was concerned with his rapping skills which are undeniably superb and if he raps about what’s on his mind and people respect him for it then that’s due to the fans listening to his music. Eminem can’t make people respect him so when people say:

and

they make it sound like it’s Eminem’s fault that they like him. I just find it a bit silly that people are almost blaming him for his popularity.

Not to nitpick, GaWd, but it was a .45 (45-caliber) handgun. Eminem may wish he could handle a 45mm handgun, but, alas, he could not.

Bah! Caught…it was the debate in my head over whether or not it was a 9mm, or a 45 cal.

Thousand pardons…

I guess my question is: You don’t like Eminem. Okay, so what do you think we should do about it? Illegalize him?

BTW, I don’t remember anyone getting this pissed when Elvis Costello made the song “Alison” which depicted killing his GF.

Actually, I don’t think his skills are superb. I made that clear in my first post. So no, they are not undeniably astounding and perfect.

I still believe that the ONLY reason he is famous is MTV’s support of him. Give him his own weekend! (EMTV) Play his video nonstop! Give him his own spot on TRL! As I said before, he is the same as *NSYNC and Britney Spears, just the darker side.

AND I don’t think he is saying anything original. From the way the papers and critics have applauded him, you’d think he was the last prophet or something. He hates gays? Doesn’t like his girlfriend? Has an illigitimate child? Wow, how original. Just like that other 56% of the population.

I’m all for free speech. Hey, if idiots want to worship him, they can go right ahead. But I don’t think his skills or ablities merit the attention he has gotten.

And after OJ, I don’t believe justice will be served. Ha ha!! Justice, lol. He will be free to run around and fuck, maim, and kill anyone he wants.

I hope he rots in a prison cell for a few years, but then that’ll just give him something else boring and unoriginal to rap about.

“Actually, I don’t think his skills are superb. I made that clear in my first post. So no, they are not undeniably astounding and perfect.”

Fair enough, tastes differ I suppose.

“I still believe that the ONLY reason he is famous is MTV’s support of him. Give him his own weekend! (EMTV) Play his video nonstop!”

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. although the coverage didn’t exactly do him harm, it can’t have been the only reason he’s successful. He was successful for some time before he got his own weekend.

“AND I don’t think he is saying anything original. From the way the papers and critics have applauded him, you’d think he was the last prophet or something.”

Well he’s certainly revitalised the world of rap. The critics have, for the most part, responded warmly to him not because of his subject matter as such, rather the skill by which he executes his raps.

" Hey, if idiots want to worship him, they can go right ahead"

Just because someone buys a CD of his that doesn’t mean they’re in love with the man, and if I’m worshipping him by buying his latest album then go right ahead and call me high priest of the Church of Eminem.

“He hates gays? Doesn’t like his girlfriend? Has an illigitimate child? Wow, how original. Just like that other 56% of the population.”

56 percent, are you sure? That seems like quite a lot to me. Anyway, assuming it is true then presumably that’s why lots of people identify with what he’s saying.
"And after OJ, I don’t believe justice will be served. Ha ha!! Justice, lol. He will be free to run around and fuck, maim, and kill anyone he wants. "

Just because he’s got a bad attitude doesn’t make him a psychopath and to my knowledge he hasn’t killed anyone and unless you call punching a guy maiming him then he hasn’t done any of that either. As for the fucking, well he’s not a monk
“I hope he rots in a prison cell for a few years,”

Why? For committing a crime or for pissing you off?

One of my favorite Eminem put downs was my friend who said “Just because he hates everything doesn’t mean he’s smart and important!” Maybe John Rocker should have put out a rap album instead.

That said, while I disagree with both of these people, I respect their right to say it. If you don’t like what Eminem says, don’t buy his records. It’s as simple as that.

Don’t mean to be rude, but your music sucks.

jubei, jubei, jubei, don’t talk shit to the fiery chick, dig? :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, I’m honestly intrigued, What kind of music do you think is good?

My opinion of Eminem is neutral. I don’t find his music offensive. My mind is practically made of teflon: Nothing can shock or offend me; it all just slides off harmlessly.

Is he destroying our youth? Please. Nobody of consequence takes him seriously.

Actually, he may be doing us a service. He’s pretty much the most offensive (whatever that means) artist in mainstream music today. He’s raised the bar of profanity and shock value pretty close to as high as they can go. Can you think of anything that’s more profane than what he raps about? After listening to his music, do you think that any other mainstream music will surpass him in terms of profanity? He may very well be the shock-rocker to end all shock-rockers. He’s making his own genre of music obsolete. If you don’t like his music, then fret not; when he goes out of style, then virtually ALL profanity-saturated music will be passé.

(Oh, and by the way: Please don’t reply to this thread only to say, “His music is boring” or, “He has no talent” or “He’s so immature” or whatnot. That’s already been said a dozen times over in this thread. You’ll just clutter the thread up. P.S.: Please don’t flame me for the clutter I myself have added to this thread.)

Most likely, he’ll make it more acceptable to make music like that…he’ll open the door for others to be just as disgusting and as vile as he is.
I don’t think he should be banned-nor should he be celebrated for “telling it like it is.”
So, if what he’s saying is true, all gays are immoral perverts and women are nothing punching bags and whores?

Debbie Gibson

i think most of you guys arent really grasping whats going on here, espeically those you hate him and wanna see him silenced etc.

for starters, people like eminem are not new. people have been saying far worse things and influencing children in a worse way for a long time. eminem happens to have the spotlight now so for someone reason hes everyones hero/corruptor. in reality and not on MTV, he is one of many excellent rappers who, thansk to several gimmicks and stokes of luck, gets played on the radio a lot. for those of you who think hes a problem or terrible, stop lisetning to him, no one has a gun to your head.

for all of eminem’s “evils,” perhaps you should be paying more attention to what hes actually saying, or where hes coming from. however that would mean devouting time and energy to something you probably have allready decided that eminem is the root of all evil, and will convince yourself that no matter what evidence is provided.

the bottom line is eminem is an entertainer, and one who doesnt buy into lots of the BS and nice packaging many entertainers today do, hence the offensiveness. and getting rid of him wont make it a safer or better place for your kids, or help you raise them. so if he doesnt particulary happen to be your taste, try and be openminded and fight ignorance by not instantly trashing him and his work, just cos it doesnt float your boat doesnt make it evil.

GG Allin must be spinning in his grave at 7000 rpm.

N-Sync, Christina Aguilera and Brittany Spears and the like induce insulin shock. They are the real shock artists of today.

You were supposed to love me [sounds of Kim choking]
NOW BLEED! BITCH BLEED!
BLEED! BITCH BLEED! BLEED!
– “Kim,” a song about Eminem’s wife

My little sister’s birthday, she’ll remember me
For a gift I had ten of my boys take her virginity
(“Mmm-mm-mmm!”)
And bitches know me as a horny-ass freak
Their mother wasn’t raped, I ate her pussy while she was ‘sleep
Pissy-drunk, throwin’ up in the urinal
(“You fuckin’ homo!”)
That’s what I said at my dad’s funeral
– “Amityville” (featuring rapper Bizarre)

Bitch I’ma kill you!
You don’t wanna fuck with me
Girls leave – you ain’t nuttin’ but a slut to me
Bitch I’ma kill you!

Bitches too!
You ain’t nuttin’ but a girl to me
– “Kill You,” a song about Eminem’s mother
—I don’t care if you listen to it, just don’t try and pass it off as some kind of statement. Eminem isn’t speaking his mind, he’s feeding stupid teenagers (I’m 17) stupid lyrics to sell records. He started his career rapping about unity and togetherness, and sold absoultly nothing. He’s hit on a formula now.

Its the exact opposite…alot of the agg-rock bands out there are buying the packaging wholesale, because thats what people buy. It’s not like Eminem or Limp Bizkit are trailblazers, they’re just pandering to the lowest common denominator.
