the funny thing is that around 50% of the people on this planet doesnt seem to think that we have only got a couple of days to decide about it. doesnt that tell you guys anything about how wrong this is?

I’m going to have to partially recant what I said many posts ago. I now feel the current year numbering system is correct, but not interpreted correctly.

To wit, AWB, when you were 0, it was the first year of your life.

I think there was some confusion about whether “This Year” referred to years since some event that started the Common Era, or which year of the C.E.

We are currently in the 1999th year of the C.E. Next year is the 2000th year.

I’m somewhat bolstered by expressions like:

“In the so-and-so year of our Lord”

Forgive me if this has already been said. I read as much as I could of “bj0rn, you’re an idiot,” as I could stand.

So, to summarize, there shouldn’t be a year zero, but the next millennium starts 1/1/2001

Yes, the actual start of the millennium isn’t until Jan 1 2001, BUT Most of the populace doesnt care. It’s the 00’s that everyone is celebrating. Not the actual specific date of the millennium. The only years with 1 that get celebrated with a lot of fanfare by most Americans at least is age 21 :).

Anyway, around Midnight tonight I will be outside setting off my fireworks and having fun.

Oh and Happy new years to any posters that may be in areas where the millenium has already happened or is about to happen!
