Endless. Boomer. Whining

Now that was a fine piece of comedic writing. Well done. Beautifully expressed. Damn, I wish I’d written that (I’m not being ironic).

Oh, never! Our grandparents didn’t whine about Elvis and rock & roll being the end of civilization-as-we-know-it. They didn’t whine about how proper young ladies didn’t wear mid-calf skirts and rolled-down bobbysox when they were teenagers. They didn’t whine about the filth in the movies when the Hays Code was rescinded.

I’ve seen the passage that was attributed to Socrates in an earlier post attributed to an even earlier anonymous Sumerian tablet. Every generation thinks the world is going to end because things are more expensive and people are more rude and children have no respect for anything.

Incidentally, I was born in 1971, so I’m either an early X-er, by the popular definition, or a mid X-er by the definition cited in an earlier post.
