Thing is, when you take literally centuries of predictions by various people and apply loose enough standards, you can almost always find a “prophecy” you can make fit a given situation.
To be a bit metaphorical, it’s like people throw a thousand darts at a wall, then somebody else comes in and nails a target to that wall. And then somebody points at the dart nearest the target and proclaims astonishment at how close it is to the bullseye.
Maybe the UK boycotts the Security Council just when the resolution authorising force against it is voted on. Happened to the Soviets in 1950 with the resolution authorising the war against their ally, North Korea.
A little OT, but seeing as this thread is destined to be either locked or moved to IMHO, I give you Bosnian director Emir Kusturica’s war masterpiece, “Underground” … which does involve a lot of tunnels and underground movement.
It is a classic of Balkan absurdist humour.
It’s easy to find old writings that predict something that eventually happens. Just by luck a few things in any writing set in the future will correctly predict a few things that eventually happen. In A True Story by Lucian of Samosata, it’s predicted that the characters in the story visit the Moon and eventually return from it. So it correctly predicted traveling to the Moon 1700 years before that happened. It also predicted many nonsensical things.
You mean that there weren’t aliens who landed next to the U.N. building and told us that they had come to serve man?
The traditional thing to do in this situation is to come up with a new edition of Mother Shipton’s prophecies with the prophecy you think is missing added. In the social media age you wouldn’t even need to go to all the trouble of creating a new edition just create a meme of the text of your prophecy on a background of a portrait of Mother Shipton and start sharing it
So do conspiracy nut jobs still go on about the UN?. They were all about that whole UN-led new world order (all run by the antichrist obviously) in the 90s but haven’t heard much about it since then. I’ve not heard the UN involved in the satan worshipping child canabalism rings conspiracy theories that are de rigure at the moment (which TBH make that whole “the antichrist leading secret UN army to take over the world” thing look positively sane)
