:dubious:
i think i’ve drunk a good 10% of that myself
Yes. I’m in London, it’s been really hot for the past couple of weeks, and this makes us want to drink more beer than usually. If lager supplies ran out, there would be blood on the streets of London, and full-on warfare in Newcastle.
It reminds of the Red Dwarf episode where an alien destroys a cargo hold, and Lister lets out the anguished cry *“You mean we have to travel through space for three million years with NO CURRY and NO LAGER?!?!”[/].
Hmm… maybe this heat-wave thing is all part of a larger conspiracy plan…

Mmmmm… Emergency Beer…
Drool…

I think you’d find that Newcastle was only the start. If the liberation of the Scottish & Newcastle brewery fails to provide sufficient supplies, there are plans for a pincer movement over the Redheugh and Scotswood bridges into Gateshead, and the Federation Brewery. After that it would depend upon intelligence reports: either strike down towards the Cameron’s plant in Hartlepool, or commandeer the Oslo-Bergen ferry and make for Denmark.
That’s “LAGER conspiracy”
How could I’ve missed that!
I don’t know if I could chug warm beer during a heatwave, and I have a freakinn kegerator in my house!
Even here in Britain the following applies.
If you find a pub serving warm lager - leave, quickly, don’t look back
I personally have never been served a pint of lager warm, thank god
One more time: WE. DO. NOT. DRINK. WARM. BEER.
What you ignorant yanks ( ) need to do is stop confusing Beer with Lager
Yeah - Real English Beer or is often not as cold as you might be used to, but this is just how its meant to be served.
Lager, of course, is sold cold - like it should be.
Sometimes i think you damn ex-colonials believe we wander around pubs drinking warm pints of Budweiser or something.
English beer or ale is served at the temperature of the cellar in which it is stored. This is usually significantly colder than room temperature, but is not ice-cold.
Lager, the amber stuff, is pretty much always served ice cold in the UK, same as in the US.
I assumed with the heatwave that everything was warm over that at the moment, but thanks for the tips, I wasn’t aware of that stuff.
Yes. And they say there are no dumb questions.
I mean, without Emergency Beer, what would you do if you run out of your regular stash while the stores are closed? Or what if buddies stop by and you’re low on the regular stuff?
Everyone needs Emergency Beer.
So, the linked article in the OP mentions a run on Lager. I realize the coldness of the Lager is one of it’s appeals during a heatwave. But what about Ale supplies? Are they in good shape? Certainly I can’t imagine a rush on the Stout, Barley Wine or Wee-Heavy supplies; but what about I.P.A.s or Mild Ales?
Easy on the insults, garius. Our beer may be crap, but we’ve got plenty of that crap to go around…
Here’s to cooler weather and plenty of brewed beverages your way soon…
You have obviously put way to much thought into this.
An officemate offered these words of encouragement to you Brits (I assume he’s quoting Churchill?):
I hear they drink their beer warm over there…
