Perhaps my perception is colored by the fact that Scott Bakula has two expressions: one of them is a grimace, and one isn’t.
Ok I’ve been away for a while so time for my usyual bitch and moan session.
Wait… I can’t believe I’m gonna say this but I actually kinda liked this.
Yes throughout it marked itself as one of those It’s just a dream or it will simply reset episodes. With Earth gone you kinda knew this story line wouldn’t continue what with Earth being there and all in past incarnations (the future of this show) Trek. However there were some nice little moments.
T’pol wearing the Uniform… finally. It looked right for her. Trip’s reaction to the damage T’Pol did to the engines with her logical (WTF how was that ramming action logical, the risk to there engines and ship were pretty darned big) Trip’s antagonism with T’pol thereafter was a nice touch. You know that Quantum is the luke warm water to Trips Fire and T’pol’s ice. Shades of the old K/S/M relationship.
Ok I laughed when I heard Ceti Alpha V (Not IV) another geeky touch was the fact that the Mutara system was mentioned, wonder when that sun will nova?
Malcom should keep the beard Plox should grow his hair.
OK in this episode we got Two count 'em TWO BERBs. They really have to work on their docking security.
It’s about time someone thought to take out the giant hood ornement on the top of the ship. Nice FX shot too.
OK now to really complain. We’ve seen this before too many times. Crew member awakenes in an alternate reality has been done to death. Lets see if I can think of a few off the top of my head Mirror, Mirror. The Mark of Giddeon, The Inner Light, The one where Riker wakes up old and finds all his memory erased from the moment of an accident until he awakes…hmmm sounds familar. All good things/ etc etc. (I haven’t even come close to the all of them.
They serve an interesting purpose of playing “what if…” but really they add nothing to the story arc nor in many cases do they offer any insights to the characters except that these guys can really adapt to the most f@cked up situations pretty darned quickly.
I’m sorry I’d waste the seven hours going yuour kidding me, this has to be a dream. etc etc.
Some nifty moments and good little character moments I give it a solid B+

Pre-empted by the Suns game here in the valley. I’ll have comments after Sunday’s repeat.
I admit, I found the episode enjoyable. And while they have done the same type of story several times, I thought it was handled well and kept my interest up.
Not too sure about the previews for next week though.
Maybe it’s because I missed a lot of episodes of the other Star Trek series so I haven’t been overexposed to the cliches, but I thought this episode was excellent.
What was this called: Enterprise: Memento?
I agree that the whole time reset plot device has been done way too many times. It’s just boring. There were some good effects in the battle scenes, but basically a poor episode.
And the bit about implying a sexual relationship between Archer and T’Pol… Ridiculous. Clearly the writers are setting things up for an eventual hook-up between Trip and T’Pol. Anyone else see that coming down the line someday?
BTW: The “Ragtag Fleet” reference was right on the mark. I had the exact same thought when I first saw the scene.
Maybe I’m missing something, but…
When the parasites in Archer’s head die, history unwinds back to where we began.
So, why not just shoot Archer. Or stick him in a meat grinder, or something?
Parasites die, time resets. No muss, no fuss.
No?
I can’t believe that I forgot to watch this episode! AAAAARGH!
Any news on when they’ll rerun it?
Well, I was all set to not like this episode even though time travel had been a favorite of mine, because TPTB/writers -usually- completely make a mess of things. However, I was surprised to find myself really enjoying the show!
I know that others don’t like this, but I’m a “shipper” for T’Pol/Archer. So was really keen on their interactions. Loved the long hair on T’Pol too (lol she looks better that way :)).
Damn, Travis bites the dust and then doesn’t even get a mention! Loved the rest of the crew, though; even Malcom’s devilish goatee (shades of Mirror Universe Malcom?! Credit to those who already thought of that, btw). Yay to Phlox for staying on course all those years and finding a cure!
And I got another glimpse (though fleeting!) of Porthos, so double yay.
I’ll try not to repeat too much stuff, but I had all my notes written down and then youse guys all got to see it before I did…
Good shot of Earth going FOOM (word stolen from evay at Triphammered).
T’Pol looked much more becoming with long hair and different attire, but didn’t look good in Starfleet duds.
Phlox looked cool with long hair and did a fine job of looking worried early on.
What is that statue that Archer used to clock the bad guy?
“Blow 'em out the airlock.” Ah, Vengeful Trip. Where have you been hiding yourself?
“HIRED BY WHOM?!” Great yell from Trip.
I’d love to blow Soval out the damn airlock. What a pain.
Malcolm looked cool, kinda like a pirate.
Did somebody say that Travis died? I didn’t even catch that. I thought they just forgot to write him into the story as usual.
Hoshi looked nice with the shorter hair, but how is it that Captain Tucker looked so much younger when he was supposed to be 9 years older?
I have no problem admitting that I enjoyed this one too. It wasn’t all just a dream from a concussion. At least, that’s not the impression I got.
John Mace, I thought you said you were done with ENT last spring. Are you with us again?
RikWriter, you know that song too! I thought NCB and I were the only ones. “Star Trekkin’ across the universe…”
Aes, I’ll send your tape tomorrow. Hope you got the two previous ones.
Oh, and I just got the coolest Trip Tucker action figure from Art Asylum, in the EV suit. Looks just like him.
Ranchoth: They do the reruns on Saturday or Sunday. Check your guide.
Linus, if it got pre-empted, UPN needs to be told. Sometimes they have no idea. I’ll tell 'em for you, if you want.
The whole Xindi “Story” is going to be eliminated by the BFSTRB.
Seriously, have the Xindi been worked into the canon yet?
The reset gimmick can be crap, but it was put to damn good use in this episode. It’s easily tied with “Carbon Creek” for my favorite Enterprise episode.
T’Pol’s sacrifice for Archer (declining a return to the Vulcan and resigning her field commission as captain of Enterprise) was actually quite poignant and sweet and their scenes together on the colony were very well written and acted. I also enjoyed seeing the crew 12 years later. Malcom looked cool with the beard, the weathered Tripp had more character and Hoshi was simply beautiful with the new hairstyle.
And, damn, I loved T’Pol maneuvering Enterprise to crash the Xindi ships into each other. Why was Tripp so mad? They had no weapons! It was either that or be destroyed. It was good to see T’Pol not playing it safe for a change.
Ermmm… umm… didn’t we learn a few weeks ago (Raijin) that the Xindi were developing a biological / biogenic-y kind of weapon? If you’re making a Blow-Up-An-Entire-Planet-In-10-Seconds weapon, why did you need Raijin’s Skeleton-Skans of the crew to learn about their biology? Worried that their unique physiology might survive the planet-buster-bomb?
[Dr Evil]
And I shall call it… the Mini-Death-Star…

Heh - yep, that was good. I was thinking, “Built for two? Hell, stuff all their lizard asses in there. Farging bastiges…”
At least in this one, it wasn’t “all a dream”, like that crappy Hoshi-in-the-transporter episode. I suppose they thought they were putting a new twist on it, since it was extradimensional parasites that caused it (rather than a big Eraser-From-History ship). The “reset” could have been a little better, though – didn’t quite match up to Janeway and “Year of Hell”.
Besides, Archer hasn’t even been to Stavromula Beta yet.
Yeah – I noticed that too. Check the pulse… move on with your life. Sheesh, poor little bugger doesn’t even get a “He’s dead Jim”.
T’Pol had to tell Archer what happened yesterday? Don’t all those fancy-dancy computers have some type of program for keeping a diary?
Stupid Vogons.
Better than the usual outfit she wore while posing in Maxim.
It seems to be that those episodes I hate, most love and vice-versa.
Rather than bemoan my fate, I’m going to try and work the stock market.
Braga sits on the toilet and hits speed dial. Berman racing his convertible on the highway hears the phone ring. He squints through the glare, having forgot his sunglasses, to fumble and answer the phone. Berman hears, “Grrrrrrrrrr. {plop}” “Is that you Braga?” asks Berman.
“Yeah, I just had this Great Idea, but I seem to have lost it. Never mind, I have an even Greater Idea[sup]tm[/sup]. I want to blow up the Earth with really neat CGI” Berman says, “Neat, but then I get to blow up the ship, but how do we carry on the franchise?” “Easy, I’ll use my standard ploy, you know, The-Universal-Reset-Device[sup]tm[/sup]” {plop} “Cool, and then I can pull on the audiences heart-strings and have everyone die-a-noble-death. That should get us market-share.”
“Okay, we’ll spend the budget on my Fooming the Earth and blowing up the ship so there won’t be time for a lot of talking stuff. What’ll we do until everything’s gone and we can press Reset and everybody forgets everything?” “Well, that’s it! We have everyone keep forgetting things. This way we just have someone doing exposition.” “But if Everyone is forgetting, who’s doing the exposition?” “Okay, we’ll just have Quantum forget, then everyone can tell him what’s going on just like we always do.”
“Okay, but these things require everyone to grow old and how will we fill up all that character development?” “Uh, yeah … I know, Quantum can forget all the time so he doesn’t grow. And everyone is so busy updating him that they don’t grow. Oh, and since the CGI will take all the budget we’ll need to make growing old on the cheap.” “Simple, put gray in half the people’s hair and grow the hair longer on the other half.”
Berman says, “You know, I wonder if we’re making these story lines too simple and not growing our characters enough.” {plop} Together, “… Nahhhhhh!” Berman takes a left turn off the freeway. “Gotta go, bye.” “See ya.”
