Environmental Abbrv. Question

Perhaps someone in the field of performing some environmental-related work can tell me what “NEPA” is? It is, at my best WAG, apparently some kind of regulatory review or self-audit procedure. Can someone shed some light here?

From the Home of HazWhopper, Jinx

NEPA is the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. It requires all federal agencies proposing major actions that might affect the human environment to to prepare Environmental Impact Statements (EIS). It basically makes agencies make disclosure statements concerning alternatives and impacts on the environment, and show that the agency used a balancing process between environmental protection and economic development.

Pravnik, thanks for enlightening me on this!

My pleasure.
