Envy me and my new circular saw.

The wife and I are redoing our rec room and decided the orange carpet laid back in the 70’s had to go. With the carpet and pad up, I found a couple of spots in the floor that needed replacing. I grabbed my 35 year old 6½ inch circular saw and started cutting. And cutting. And attempting to cut. Needless to say, this saw wasn’t going to make the grade cutting inch and 1/8 flooring and it looked like it was time to buy a new saw. I grabbed my latest Craftsman catalog and on the top of the circular saw page, a 14 amp 7 and 1/4 inch saw with laser track technology. Hmm, only $70 plus tax. I ordered one and my wife picked it up this morning. I am now the king of carpentry. Never again will I cut a crooked line. The days of struggling to force my old saw through 2X4’s are over. If you can draw a straight line, you can cut a straight line. You can look at it here. Sears has a miter saw with a laser light too. Wish my birthday wasn’t so far off.

Most excellent. I received one of those for Christmas. It rocks.

Does it mean I’ve hit middle age when I get more aroused looking through the Sears Craftsmen catalog than actual porn?

Tits? eh…
Ass? Whatever.
A 1/2 horse power, oil air compressor with accessories for $89.99! Holy… I can’t believe… I wanna… I… AHHHHHHHHH… I need a cigarette.

As soon as I saw the thread title, I knew it would involve a laser. Congratulations. Can you actually see the laser light in conditions bright enough to cut safely in? A friend got a ‘laser level’, and the laser light couldn’t be seen except under the deck or in the garage. Not too useful.

I got a japanese pull-saw for Christmas.
Just for fun, I used it to make all of the cuts for framing in my bathroom.

Worked like a charm.

When the saw actually uses the laser to cut through the wood, * then * I’ll envy you. Don’t think I’ve ever used a circular saw without a straightedge except when I was removing a floor, so I don’t know how useful a laser would be.

Could use one on the chop saw, though.

Coulda jusben a dull blade… :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I like the new stuff, too. Mostly because it weighs less, I’ll tell you whut.

Japanese saws are really interesting and beautiful, too.

So, color at least one broad impressed.
