Ephedrine "rebound effect"

I’m aware of the so-called “rebound effect” that can occur from overuse of nasal sprays containing ephedrine, where a person’s nose will remain congested despite any outside cause such as a cold or allergy. My question is whether the same thing can occur from use of oral medications. If it can, does the effect occur only from uninterrupted daily use, or can it occur from frequent but not continuous use over a period of time? Also, are the other ingredients besides ephedrine, pseudoephedrine, etc. that also cause the rebound effect?

(bump…) I searched on Google and the rebound effect seems to pertain only to sprays, not oral medication. Can someone confirm this, and if it’s true, why would it matter whether it’s nasal vs. oral?
