I have a big problem with my Epson printer. Colors are way off. Red colors are dull, blue colors are slightly purple-ish and everything else has a slight green-ish hue.
I tried to change the color settings from the printer’s control panel, but it didn’t have any effect. Any help?
Now that’s an easy problem to solve. Buy a canon?
Is it new? Did you follow installation correctly? Shoddy ink cartridges?
There should be maintenance checks on your printer. Run them and see if they’re right. If not, contact customer support.
I have an Epson 1280, and the colors on it are gorgeous. I assume the 1290 is similar. You really have to use high-quality paper for the colors to look good. I normally print on PrintWorks (http://www.myprintworks.com) Ultra Premium Photo glossy paper, and the results are awesome.
Also be sure you’re printing on the right side of the paper. I know it sounds elementary, but my other favorite paper is matte paper of thin cardboard stock. It looks virtually identical on both sides. The print side is ever-so-slightly whiter than the other side. However, if you print on the non-print side, the results are disasterous: colors are way off and dull.
Also, in the “Properties” section of the print window, make sure that your media type matches the medium you’re printing on. If you use incorrect settings, your results WILL be off.
You can also navigate the Advanced Settings and control the cyan/magenta/yellow/saturation levels, but that should only be a tweak. If colors are WAY off then this is not your problem.
Also, run a quick nozzle check to make sure all your inks are printing properly. I assume you’ve already done this, but just in case you haven’t.
But my money is that it’s somewhere in either the paper or paper settings you’re using.
More information required; is this something that has happened ever since you installed the printer (i.e. is it a new purchase?), or has it just suddenly started happening? Are you using original ink cartridges?
Maybe I was overeacting when I said the colors are way-off. They are just slightly off, but this is turning me nuts!
The printer is new, I am now using my third pair of ink cartridges (original Epson) and I print on either Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper or Epson Photo Quality Inkjet Paper. The color problem was there from the very begining.
Somebody on another board said my problem is because both the printer and the program I use to print are doing color correction. He advised me to turn off color correction from the printer options and let whatever program I am using to do it.
I tried that with many different programs, but still no difference.
The other thing responsible might be ICC profiles, but I have no idea how to fix that.
