Oh, and one more thing that bothered me…when Carrie went to the NICU to see Luka, she didn’t look at the baby for the longest time…and she’s a mom! I thought she’d give the tike a glance, at least, even just out of professional interest. It’s not like Luka was looking at her and would have noticed if she’d glanced away from him for a second…
I think that this show needs to end. They’ve run out of ideas at this point.
Like I said last season, was the hospital built over an Indian Burial Ground where they only buried evil wizards and then built out of cursed bricks? What is the life expectancy of a doctor in that ER? Three years max?
If I were an insurance company, I wouldn’t write a policy for that place.
I don’t think Sam CAN return to her job as a nurse, what with being a murderer and all. That wasn’t self-defense. He was asleep, she had already gotten away and was in a van with the engine on and ready to go. Seeing as she didn’t struggle when he raped her, there’s no physical evidence of a struggle, and the signs on the ground are going to show clear footprints and the already-lying-down imprint of his body, not a sudden fall of a dead man. She’s fucked.
I actually liked that she didn’t. I spent enough time in the NICU to notice that the doctors and nurses rarely looked in at the babies unless they were treating them. Other parents, visitors and doctors are specifically, by hospital policy, forbidden to look at the other babies in the room unless invited to by their parent, because of HIPAA patient confidentiality laws. It becomes habit really quick to not look anywhere but at your own kid and her monitors, even when sharing a room with half a dozen other families. It’s weird, and I don’t know if the actress knew it, but she unwittingly got it perfect.
My husband freaked out a bit watching this one, because it reminded him so much of our experience.
I agree that Sam is fucked about the murder charge…I think they mentioned it in the previews for next week. But I think she’ll get off. Hey, if my ex was holding a gun in one hand right after killing two people and telling me that he’d rather we were all dead than be apart, there would be no signs of a struggle, either. Better to endure the sex than to be shot and know your son will die too, possibly in a hail of bullets when the police catch up with them.
And she really had no choice. If she started the car up, he might wake up and shoot at them, or the car would stall, or she’d hit something and not be able to get away. If I were on her jury I’d let her off. Considering all the charges he’d face from the hospital shootings and killing the other two, she just saved the state a lot of money.
So will Sam turn up pregnant :rolleyes: She and Abby could live with Luka so he could have two kids instead of one. :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
Did I miss her? I love Paula Malcomson. Was she in this episode? The only Deadwood person I noticed was Garret Dillahunt, who seems to be everywhere on TV these days.

She did mention an abruption clot. I believe the “blob” was the placenta with the attached clot. It didn’t look like a normal placenta.
They sure do have some realistic surgical scenes in “ER.” I wonder what they do with all the SFX body parts after the show has been filmed. Do they warehouse them for future use? Is there a closet somewhere at NBC with a storehold of gory fake organs?
That’s the only line you needed. EVERYTHING on that show always ends up badly. If a cousin is introduced in an epi, you can bet he/seh will be in the ER on deathe doorway before too long. Every relationship goes bad, every kid has some fucking horribel thing go wrong, helicopters crashing on dudes… :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
I haven’t watched it in two years. Once upon a time, it was actually a decent medical show.
I was sure hoping they would crash a helicopter on Jerry’s mom, but maybe they ran out of helicopters.
At one point they dumped an entire bucket of ice INTO Jerry. At least, that’s what it looked like. Is that a real thing people do? I thought that meant he was dead and they were refrigerating his organs for transplant donation…
You didn’t miss her – I just checked IMDB and didn’t see an ER credit. I don’t remember where I heard she’d be on ER this season. Maybe I dreamed it! 
I liked this particular episode, even though I was disappointed that they went so far over the top yet again, with the violence, the season-ending cliffhanger. It’s almost a parody.
It could have been much worse. I was glad Sam shot Steve – I was half expecting they’d have the kid do it. We’ve seen that before.
I liked Luka and Abby, and Abby stroking Luka’s hair. I liked Luka joking about “Mongo” and then laughing. Don’t think I’ve ever seen him laugh. I liked Jerry’s mom. I liked Morris continuing to do a good job.
Maybe the show’s been on too long. The writers seem to think they need to top themselves with outrageous events. Daily life in ER is exciting enough, without all the extra “drama”. Somebody tell 'em!
I believe that was an improvised ice slurry for the purpose of cooling the blood to delay cell death, as discussed here.
Well, this E/R with George Clooney was cancelled some time ago. Maybe they meant that?
I watched it with my boyfriend and I told him someone was supposed to die. I said it would probably be Steve but they could just kill off Jerry or the baby which would piss people off but they don’t care. So all through the episode, Luka would cough and we’d say “Ooh, he’s gonna die!”, Abby bleeds and “She’s gonna die!”, Jerry’s mom is annoying, “She’s gonna die” - I even suggested a helicopter would fall on her. pinkfreud, great minds think alike. The Steve get killed at the end and I was right all along but the speculation actually made the episode more fun.
I really thought Jerry would croak in this ep, if only because Abraham Benrubi is now on Men in Trees. But if both are small roles, perhaps he can juggle them?
My memory is hazy, but didn’t Abraham Benrubi leave the show a few years back for a soon-canceled series, and then return a while later?
Hey! Pretty much everyone else thought the baby was toast, but I called the Abby/baby plotline on May 19th (post 31). If only I could use my ESP for more pointed purposes…
As I watched the episode last night, I remarked “wouldn’t it be ironic if Abby ends up losing her uterus after saving Carol’s?” She took my being right okay. 
I bet Sam will get off. I was rooting for her to shoot him after he killed the other two idiots, so I was happy with the ending. It falls under my Some People Just Need Killin’ theory - after 11 years of him dogging her, he wasn’t going to stop fucking up her life now. What else could she do, leave him there and wait for him to come after her and the kid again the next time he breaks out of jail?
Yeah, but why couldn’t he have killed the “Son of Sam” before he died? Then at least his life woudl have been marked by one good deed.
