I am surprised this* hasn’t been posted. I love when he wags and shakes his finger at the Congressman Gohmert. His facial expression was pure delight. I only wish Obama would be this forceful in confronting Republicans on their bullshit. Check out the entire exchange below where Eric Holder wishes Gohmert good luck with his “asparagus”. It’s nice to see Democrats with a backbone.
Gohmert accused Holder of thinking getting held in contempt wasn’t a big deal, Holder said forcefully that it was a big deal to him. I’m not sure what big issue this resolved, but if it makes you happy to see Holder admit that getting held in contempt mattered to him, good for you.
I think it’s a very big deal. Holder also called the contempt charge unjust and unwarranted*. In thisexchange with Issa, Holder told him that he should be ashamed of himself in how he has conducted the hearing This is the stuff Democrats should be saying and I’m happy to hear them them say it. Your mileage may vary, however.
Youve got to be fucking kidding me. Gohmert actually said “dont disparage my asparagus” (or something very close) on national television. He made a mockery of himself. What a buffoon. I loved it.
If they are. Holder was not. The vote to hold him in contempt was overwhelming, and he clearly lied to Congress, as well as withheld requested documents.
Holder’s issue seems to be that Fast and Furious wasn’t important enough to justify Congress holding him in contempt. That’s not his decision to make. Congress provides oversight and the administration is supposed to comply with that oversight whether they like it or not.
I wonder why so many people think it’s okay for an administration to withhold requested documents that Congress subpoenas.
If a corporation did that, no one would question Congress’ right to those documents, no matter how unjustified the investigation. Congress has the right to subpoena documents. The AG does not get to decide whether Congress’ oversight is being carried out properly or not. That’s for the voters to decide.
So soon after claiming the vote was “overwhelming”, as if the case in favor of it was convincing? Really?
I think you know why a party would consider an act of rank partisan spite by the other party to be beneath their participation. Or maybe you don’t know, doesn’t matter.
Now, perhaps you can point out the lie you think *Holder *told.
Frankly, I’d hold being held in contempt by THIS Congress to be a badge of honor. If the majority of the certifiable inmates in an asylum vote that you’re an asshole, there’s a good chance you’re actually kind of a nice guy.
Not to mention that holding Congress in contempt, personally, is the only sane response to the modern GOP.
