Eric Holder kills it: You don't want to go there, buddy.

In any case, I’m right. Neither you nor Holder get to decide whether Congress determines that his statement was untruthful or not. They held him in contempt because on an extremely crucial question he was off by a mile in a way that just happened to be convenient for him.

If Holder had been a corporate executive they would have keelhauled him and you would have cheered them on.

Nope, you’re still wrong.

Not your call. Although you’re braver than the Democrats. Most of them refused to back Holder, instead choosing the coward’s way out.

Democratic politicians acting cowardly? Stop the presses!

They were clearly refusing to dignify the Republicans’ grandstanding by participating in it, as has been the case so very often under Issa’s chairmanship.

adaher, you ever gonna 'splain what Holder said was a lie? Or are you satisfied just to tell us only you have the right to make that determination? Amid the laughter, that is.

What a paragon. Change liar for lawyer and it doesn’t alter the meaning. This post is a classic example of why it is pointless talking politics with partisans in two party political systems. You can excuse any action of your own side and demonize any of the other.

Can you see how likely you would be to laugh at your own justification if it were offered on behalf of a Republican?

Elvis, a few does not equal nearly 50. And you guys are really, really looking ridiculous right now.

Excellent projection, especially with regards to your own record of statements on President Obama and his administration.

Except for the fact that I am not a supporter of Obama or his opposition. I think both sides are equally reprehensible. Just like in Australia or the UK or probably anywhere else where money runs politics.

Agreed. Gohmert did say in the clip, “We are known by our fruits”. Is asparagus a fruit?

Apologies; I confused you with a different poster.

The “pox on both their houses” approach to politics is in my opinion intellectually lazy and not worth respect. The chances that both sides in a political debate would be equally reprehensible is vanishingly small. One side is almost certain to be worse than the other. And if you’ve observed US politics for any length of time–say, six years–and concluded that Obama’s sins (and he has sins, no doubt) are anything close to the sins of his opposition, well, I’d suggest you pay better attention, or forbear from having an opinion.

Obama’s sins have had a direct effect on people. The Republicans’ have not, being the opposition and all.

That point of view is absolute insanity. And that’s all I can say about it without inviting a warning. (Note, mods, that I restrained myself enough to insult the POINT OF VIEW rather than the poster.)

Yeah, like that time he shut down the government by not giving the Republicans everything they wanted.

You know, that’s not even the part I found profoundly unrealistic. It was the 2nd sentence that really departed from reality. I’m sure that Obama’s policies have affected people…he’d be a really sorry president if they didn’t. But to say that the Republicans HAVEN’T affected people because they’re not in control of the White House is to ignore the fact that they ARE, in fact, in control of the House, have a disproportional effect on Senate policies, and control quite a few statehouses in both the legislative and executive branches.

I was thinking very much along those lines, myself; not to mention that Republicans were in power nationally not all that long ago. Even started a post along those lines in reply to adaher. The I re-read the post he was responding to, and it mentioned Obama and six years, so I decided not to submit it.

But within that limited scope, Obama’s actions only over the last six years, he’s absolutely right.

That’s really dumb and I can’t imagine a moment’s thought went into this idea.

There doesn’t seem to have been much thought into the idea that the Republicans’ sins in the last six years are worse than the Democrats other than that you wish Obama was doing a better job and you think the Republicans are the primary cause of him being a failed President.

Anyway, I prefer to defer to the wisdom of the public on issues like this.
