Escape From L.A., wow is it horrible!

Very True!

“The United States is a non-smoking country.”

If I recall, those are the words that pushed Snake over the edge at the end. As a tireless crusader for smoker’s rights, I stood up and cheered at Snake’s rebellion.

But yeah, other than that, it was a pretty lame “sequel.” (in quotes because I also consider it more of a remake.)

I don’t remember much about the movie, but I remember the trailer very well. It was actually quite clever.

I used to think EFLA was a bad movie, but I recently saw Pacific Rim so may have to rethink that.

One thing I’ve always liked about “Escape From New York” is that Plissken spends about 22 hours in New York, yet it seems during all that time it is night!
Despite this rather obvious error, this works well in creating a spooky, surreal setting for the entire movie.

And the bracelet with the 15 minute homing beacon? They knew only Plissken could have activated it because only he knew about the safety catch (which would have taken somebody else a full 3 seconds to find).

And that wristwatch which is about the size of the National Debt? Hilarious.

These things might seem corny and contrived but they only added to the fun of the movie.
And these corny, comedic elements were totally missing from “Escape From LA”. :frowning:

Oh by the way it is currently on the Movie Channel at this time.

Plissken was knocked unconscious for most of the daytime. There’s a scene in the day where the police bring a helicopter into central park and the prisoners give them their demands
