Blalron, do you have access to something I don’t? I think that’s pretty close to what I posted two years ago. What would you say to making this topic a separate thread? (Feel free to e-mail me, rather than hi-jack this one.)
Autz, getting back to the OP, here’s one thing I can see happening which came out of that thread. If abortion is legal if the pregnancy is caused by rape, I can see an increase in the number of alleged rapes. One thing we got into a bit is what would be required to meet that standard, especially since traditionally rape investigations and trials take more than a few months, I think. Also, a woman could refuse to name her (fictitional) rapist or press charges.
For the record, I recall reading that the number of abortions has declined pretty steadily since 1973. I suspect that the number of unwanted children would go up if abortion were made illegal and that those with sufficient money and resources would still find some way to have access to them. I also think the number of women dying from botched abortions, not to mention being severely injured, as in unable to have children in future would go up, although I don’t have any cites for this, and I’m no longer sure unbiases cites on this issue even exist.
That’s not a vague response. It’s the only rational response possible to such a broad question. It’s the same answer you’d get if you asked what penalty should result for someone who causes a wrongful death. The same exact answer as for virtually every crime. Why is this so hard for you to accept?
I gave you a list of different situations that result in “wrongful death” of a fetus, and asked you what the penalty ranges would be for each specific situation.
No, you did not provide the situation. You merely provided certain actions divorced from circumstance. Your list might just as well have included “Women who cause wrongful deaths.” That would invite just as much specificity. Again, exactly the same as for virtually every crime, a detail you seem to be conveniently overlooking.
