Esprix on TV!

Damn, I don’t get Comedy Central…
:frowning:
Congrats, Esprix!

Cajun Man, looks like I was interviewed by Steve Carell. Nice guy.

KJ, I’m a freak, but I’m not a freak about it.

Chief - what things?

Esprix

Fan conventions.

Dressed up trekkers scare me.

There’s a difference between fan conventions and science fiction conventions, IMHO.

There are still those commercially-oriented conventions with some second-string TV and movie stars, but the place is a big dealer’s room to get you to buy things. They have their place, and they’re fun, but they attract kids more than anything.

Most big cities have their own sci-fi organization, and host their own science fiction convention each year (BaltiCon, PhilCon, ICon, etc.). These are fan-run and much more programming-oriented - panels about a wide variety of subjects, guests who are authors, not actors, professional costumers, lots of gaming (card, board, RPG, LARP, etc.), a good dealer’s room, an art show, and lots of parties.

Comparing Creation Convention’s Star Trek-o-Rama at the Convention Center and the Philadelphia Science Fiction Society’s annual convention, PhilCon, is like comparing a used car salesman to a Disney World cast member - no comparison.

Yeah? Dressed up trekkers in other places scare me.

Esprix hon, I swear to the Goddess that if you’re still on the East Coast in March/April of next year, I’m dragging you down to Connexions. You’d love it - multi-media fan con. We have panels for two days, a play (which I’m usually in), a kickass dealer’s room, and an art auction that donates money to AIDS charities.

And besides, you’d be one of the only guys there. Which would just be DAMN funny, in my opinion.

Nurlman, they interviewed Adams quite extensively in the movie “Trekkies,” a documentary about Star Trek fans - a great film, and she’s not nearly the freak people make her out to be - odd, but smart as a whip.

Falcon, no such luck - I’ll be leaving at the end of December. Come to WorldCon in Philly in November 2001!

And if y’all would like to see me in a previous costume, the only picture I have up on the web is me in my Riddler costume from a couple years ago.

I’ll have more pictures scanned shortly - one of my projects while I’m packing is to finally get pictures of me in all my SCA garb and the costumes I’ve made.

Esprix

Esprix - PsyCop!!! To think I actually liked you! Phooey!

Mondo Bizarro! Was this in San Francisco?

Two years ago I was driving down Embarcadero and there at the crosswalk, waiting for the light to change, was a whole gaggle of Sailor Scouts (technically a group of twelve or more is a Gaggle, less than five, a Pod).

Though I’ve become pretty jaded, I did a double-take at that scene. Sure, I’ve heard of Trek fans doing this, but I had no Idea there were people into Sailor Moon of all things. Is this widespread?

Some people will do anything to get out of jury duty.

Fierra, got a problem with Psi Corps? After all, the Corps is Mother, the Corps is Father… Besides, think of me as a friend of Lyta, no matter how imposing (and hot) I might look in my military uniform.

DRY, she didn’t do it to get out of jury duty. First, she was selected as an alternate, uniform and all, and the attorneys didn’t mind. She didn’t get much attention, though, until she was chosen to replace one of the regular jurors who was excused. And, as the linked article said, she was on the jury for quite a few weeks until she got kicked off, not for wearing the uniform, but for speaking with reporters, which had been forbidden by the judge.

Just clearing that up.

Esprix

At the end of “The Daily Show” for 10/18/2000, Jon Stewart said that on tomorrow’s show, 10/19/2000, they will run the story about Gay Sci-fi fans in Arlington, VA.

We look forward to seeing our very own Esprix.

WOoohooo! makes note to watch tonight

Yup.

From what I’ve been told it will air tonight at 10 (11?), then re-airs at 1:30 am, 10ish am, and 7:00 pm tomorrow.

Keep a watch out. I’m the cute one.

Esprix

Can someone tape it for me and Satan? I don’t have cable, and he’ll be on the road tonight.

Drain -

I can tape it for you if you want…not sure when it’d get to you if I mailed it, though. Email me and lemme know.

Is that 10 EDT?

Update - from what I’ve been able to gather it airs at 11:00 pm tonight (EST) and then the same episode re-airs at 1:30 am, 10:00 am and 7:00 pm tomorrow (Friday). However, watch it tonight at 7:00 too just to make sure (or if anybody can watch it this morning and let me know if it’s mine or not).

Esprix

The 11:00pm airing is the first airing of the episode for that day. The 1:30am, 10:00am, and 7:00pm airings are repeats of the previous night’s show. Cajun Man and I watch the show regularly and know the routine.

All times are Eastern.

That’s quite the staff you’ve got Esprix
