Essential Michael Haydn recordings

My husband really likes the music of Michael Haydn, but we have no recordings at home. I’d like to get him some, skipping the religious and vocal works, and focusing on symphonies and chamber music.

Anyone have some suggestions? Pinpointing a specific recording would also be helpful, but not essential.

His stuff isn’t the easiest to come by, but assuming you do actually mean Michael Haydn, try these for starters:

A good sampling of symphonies, played pretty well:

His most famous trumpet concerto (sandwiched between lots of other trumpet favorites):

Figaro: I do indeed mean Michael; my husband isn’t as interested in Franz Josef.

Thanks for the links–they look very helpful.
