Estimated Cost of Cremation?

Oops! Sorry, my friend, but she said it so spontaneously that you two must be telepathic or something:D

Was yours an unintentional joke that came out just at the right time, or are you that fast with a quip, my friend, because that’s awesome funny and deserves a *cymbal crash" along with that rim shot!

Anyway, I just told her what you wrote and you got a laugh for your trouble. Plus she says “hey” to you and the roomie, as do I of course!

Q

I think it’s from an old Polish joke involving a letter to/from home with a lot of such things in it. The writer says so-and-so got a job mowing lawns at a cemetery and has 500 people under him. The letter closes with ‘I was going to send money, but I’ve already sealed the envelope.’

Such things take residence in my head, and often pop out modified to fit a given situation. I’ll probably never have the chance to use it IRL again.

I have decided to have someone shoot a 15-20 minute light-hearted video for my family including my extended family:) to be played after all the stuff is done, and I’ve had my ashes hauled.

What I’d like to do is upload it to YouTube, so anyone who wants to can view it.

If anyone has any suggestions I’d like for you to PM them to me, and this includes any jokes I can tell. (I have already got a rough draft, and I have plenty of time to write the whole thing).

D and I have discussed stuff, including her re-marriage, and she just had 2 words to say to me: “shut” and “up”.

Thanks

My mom was cremated, but my sibs did want a viewing, so she was embalmed to accommodate people traveling from far-flung locales. Rather than being in a rented casket, however, she was in a cardboard one that went into the crematorium with her. It was the best lookin’ piece of cardboard I’ve ever seen. I never would have guessed it was cardboard if I had not picked it out myself.

I second the medical donation. It doesn’t have to be to a medical school, either. My brother’s body was donated to a company that, for want of a better word, repurposed his body. Cadaver parts have numerous medical applications. We even got a letter informing us of what his body had been used for. Didn’t cost us a dime.

That idea’s already been “nixed” by the whole gang here. At first, my wife wanted me not to be creamated, but buried, but she’s willing to go along with me on that at least. Jokingly, (I do that a lot) I told her that if I could be buried standing UP, I’d go for it. She didn’t go for it.

Q

But it would be so EASY to be buried standing up! Just get a big ol’ auger, drill down about 12 feet and in you go. Maybe give you a couple of thumps to tamp you down. Think how many more people you could get in a plot!

And just think of how much of the environment I would save!!!
