Ethiopia intervenes in Somalia -- will the U.S. ever get involved there again?

Huh. This didn’t make the headlines in the morning papers…

It was on the BBC World Service

Sounds like an aircraft carrier sent aircraft to sort out a bunch in the deep South of Somalia - they claimed getting various Al Qaeda types which is a bit spurious.

I think that this one is being conducted on a ‘low profile’ basis, they’ll not proclaim victory until it is absolutely certain.

Probably Gitmo will get a new influx of prisoners.

Well, apparently the U.S. airstrike didn’t kill any of the three al-Qaeda suspects it was aimed at (though it did kill 8-10 people, which is something).

Analysis/commentary from The Nation.

Update: Another U.S. airstrike.

Ethiopia, meanwhile, has begun to withdraw its troops.
