Euro 2009 election

With regard to the upcoming Euro election June 2009 to the European Parliament.

I’m making an online poll in which users can answer a number of questions to see which candidate they match best. The questions will first be given to the candidates, afterwards people will be able to answer the same questions and see which candidate comes closes to their answers.

Which question or issues would you like to be included in such a poll?

Hmm, what scope do you plan to have with this poll? Each member country has many many candidates affiliated with many different parties. How will you cover that wide range of candidates?

Hmm, I’m not sure how you’d go about doing that but it sounds fun!

Are you really going to do it with individual candidates? Because many countries use list systems so you only get to choose a party… it may be easier to do it along the lines of the party groupings that the European Parliament is divided up into.

Anyway, onto your real question- I guess I’d like to see one about how they see the EU evolving, further integration or whether its gone far enough already. Maybe a specific question about Turkey would be appropriate as thats a big deal.

I’ll give it some more thought

Should the people have the right to vote on the Lisbon Treaty?

I just want to say I get a chuckle out of the Berlusconi affair.

stance on abortion

When can we expect to have a single, united, consistent (1) border and immigration policy, (2)foreign policy, (3) military?

When can we expect the EU to grow a spine and forcefully denounce the USA on Human Rights issues?

Expansion and new members.

And where does Europe stop?

Intellectual property law & the Berne Convention: too strict, not strict enough, or about right?

Should Europe have a general income redistribution tax/negative income tax to offset variances in income between states & regions?

At the Pyrenees, of course!

Wait. Which side is it on? Can I declare Germany to be in Asia?

Unfortunately I started much too late, and will probably only have time to make the poll for Danish candidates.
I have thought of the following questions (which I’ve nicked from various places), which you can answer
a) Completely agree
b) Tend to agree
c) Neutral
d) Tend to disagree
e) Completely disagree
f) No opinion
53 questions (which I quickly translated to English) are probably way too many, about half is probably better. The problem is also, that many of the questions are things the parliament has no say in:

Environment
46) * The EU should collect higher taxes to use for subsidies for wind and sun and other environmental friendly energy sources
47) * The EU target of cutting 20% its CO2 produce in 2020 is much too little, more should be done even it the cost is large in higher taxes/more expensive energy bills

Animal welfare. In particular, as Rune mentioned, the crazy hauling around of livestock around Europe to collect as many farming grants as possible.
