I’m not European, being from the US, but I don’t see how trust can be established as long as US political leaders continue to misstate the objections to the US characterization of the intelligence about Iraq and weapons.

I heard Wolfie tonight on the News Hour and he continually said that criticism of the decision to use preemptive war was unjustified because intelligence is by nature not perfect.

However, the criticism isn’t of the intelligence but rather the fact that, yes intelligence isn’t perfect but the administration cabal, GW, Wolfie, Rummy, Perle, et al acted as if and claimed that they had perfect information about supposed Iraqi weapons, and Saddam’s intentions.

Israel: Regarding Israel I should point out that a symbolic hand slapping of Israel rather than abandoning Israel to the whim’ of the UN is more probable and even welcomed by Americans too.

I doubt Kerry will be anti-Israel because that is political suicide… but that Sharon and his ilk need to be given a “back to reality” slap is evident. The effect across the world would be of great relief. A sign that either Israel gets it act together or suffer the consequences. Even if nothing else is done against Israel.
