How did Greece not win Eurovision last week?? That was the best Euro song I have seen performed at the contest… ever.
P.S. Wasn’t one of the Estonian singers out and out American?
So since when has it been guaranteed, or even likely, that the “best” song wins the contest?
One of the two Estonian singers was from Aruba, but had an Estonian wife. It’s not a new practice; Switzerland have been represented by Celine Dion and the UK by Gina G (Australian) and Katrina and the Waves (American) in recent years.
Technically, the Aruban Estonian singer was given a Dutch passport at birth. And when you get tired of sunny Aruba, Estland is the logical step to make. Right?
It is supposed to be a contest of songs, not singers. The song writers should be from the relevant country.
And Antiqua, that performed the Greek entry, are both from Sweden, although with Greek parents.
I don’t know how I missed this thread for so long.
