I’ve been catching up on the Evangelion anime, recently—I’m speaking, of course, of the famed sequel to the underrated miniseries Argon Nothingness Heresy—and a question has come to mind…what were those flying-wing aircraft used to transport the Evas, from time to time? I can’t find any information about them online—not a name, model number, supposed manufacturer, or even a decent screenshot. Nothin’.
Do any any manga, DVD extras, or art books have any information on them? (A three-view and a table of physical specs and performance data would be ideal. Which means that I’ll never find vaguely approaching that much information.)
From here. It looks like it’s just called “EVA LONG-RANGE AERIAL TRANSPORT L’XB-49”. Go figure.
Translating the page with BabelFish (it’s Italian, right?):
When they were delivering Unit-03 (before it went berserk) I found it rather amusing that one of the flying wings was carrying the eva on a crucifix, on a very non-aerodynamic manner. Generally those flying wings carried the evas horizontally I believe.
Amusing tidbit. Googling “Argon Nothingness Heresy” and hitting I’m Feeling Lucky gives you a creationist screed. In fact, they’re all pretty much bad theology of one sort or another, except for the list of words from Marshall. Now I just need to find a place to stick the word “zorthian.”
